Defigena: 1,700 participants to support cystic fibrosis research

The event was a triumph for its co-founding companies, Verlingue and Génération. The eighth edition of Defigena on Sunday racked up support from more than 1,700 participants, many of whom came with family or friends, who turned up to run or walk to promote research.

After a group warm-up set to music with an athletic coach, the events unfolded in a relaxed, friendly setting: obstacle courses for children, a 5K walk and 10K run against the magical backdrop of the beaches on Île-Tudy.

Since it was created in 2011, Defigena has raised over €200,000 for research.

All funds and donations are passed on in full to the INSERM research laboratory of Professor Claude Férec in Brest, and enable investment in state-of-the-art equipment and finance a doctorate research post. This marks another step forward to help the laboratory explore treatment options in depth and to continually increase the life expectancy of persons living with cystic fibrosis.
