Defigena 2017: 7th edition set for 4 June at Ile-Tudy

Definega is a sporting and family event created in 2011 by the companies Verlingue and Génération to raise funds for research on cystic fibrosis (mucoviscidosis). This annual get-together is organised in Ile-Tudy and involves a 10km race, a 5km hike and a 500 meter race specially for children. The 7th edition, whose ambassador is the singer Nolwenn Leroy, will be held on Sunday 4 June 2017 and will surely once again be supported by its partners from Finisterre.

Defigena, in 6 years, has become a must event for joggers and walkers but also for everyone, big or little, who wants to support research on cystic fibrosis either with their family or with friends. Since it started, the number of contestants has multiplied fivefold and donations eightfold. 2016 saw 1,700 participants and EUR 43,000 in donations collected.

Donations are wholly passed on to the Professor Claude Ferec INSERM research laboratory in Brest and enable continued investment in state-of-the-art equipment and financing each year for a pre-doctorate research post. All this with one objective: enable researchers to widen the scope of possible treatments in order to find a cure for this condition. Today, thanks to the progress made in research and treatment of the condition, the average patient life expectancy is now 40 years when it was only 5 years in the sixties.

Definega can now rely on the support of its partners to develop the event and make it permanent: i.e. VERLINGUE, GENERATION, DECATHLON Quimper, EURODIF and SALAUN HOLIDAYS.
