Defigena: strong mobilisation for the fight against cystic fibrosis

On Sunday 4 June 1,450 hikers and runners, young and old, kept their promise to attend the 7th edition of Defigena, an event created by Verlingue and Generation in 2011 to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research.

After a group warm-up to music with a sports coach, the competitions took place in a relaxed, happy-go-lucky mood: the kids race, the 5km hike and the main 10km race, all against the magical backdrop of Tudy island.

Once again, Verlingue and Generation were able to count on increased support, with ever more corporate partners joining the campaign: Salaün Holidays, Eurodif and Decathlon… Many Verlingue staff members came with their families both as volunteers and participants.

All proceeds and donations are passed on to the Professor Claude Ferec INSERM research laboratory in Brest and enable continued investment in state-of-the-art equipment and financing each year for a pre-doctorate research post. A further step in assisting the laboratory in widening the prospects for treatment and so enable the life expectancy of people suffering from cystic fibrosis to be improved year after year.
