In direct continuation of his #2018 strategic plan, this broker from Brittany is building up his management team. Next April, Frédéric Grand (head of brokerage & MidCorp at Allianz) will be focusing on the group’s upturn international business and front office with Eric Maumy, the chief executive. Edouard Héry is about to leave the group.
Verlingue is not deviating from its pathway. Started in 2016, the #2018 strategic project for this leading broker ranked 9th on the French market, reaches a milestone with Frédéric Grand’s appointment to the position of deputy chief executive, in charge of international business and the front office. As soon as he arrives, next April, he will be reporting to Eric Maumy, Chief Executive of Verlingue. This management reorganisation has arisen following the departure, at the age of 60, of Edouard Héry who has been a historic figure in the group. He was Regional Director and in charge of the front office having contributed significantly to its development over 18 years in terms of complementary welfare protection.
GAINING A EUROPEAN DIMENSION
A qualified engineer from the École Centrale Paris and a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta , Frédéric Grand started his career at Mutuelles du Mans Assurances, holding various positions in different countries (Tunisia, Canada, etc.). In 1996, he joined FM Global as Director of Development for France then Marketing and Sales Director for Europe before becoming Managing Director for France, Benelux, Spain and Portugal in 2000. In 2006, he joined Allianz as Executive Director of Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality France then became Head of Life and Health Partnerships for Allianz France before being appointed Head of Brokerage in 2011. Since 2016, he has been working at the head office of Allianz in Munich, in charge of brokerage and the Midcorp segment.
“In less than two years, our TO earned internationally has increased from 5% to 20% (editor’s note: €130mn in 2016). Frédéric Grand is going to speed up this internationalisation since we wish to increase the percentage to 50% for a steadily increasing TO, Eric Maumy explains. In addition to the reinvention of customer experience, digitalisation, new customer territories, economic performance (€130mn TO in 2016, up 7.4%) and recruitment of talents (around a hundred in 2017), the #2018 project was in fact targeting European expansion. After setting up in Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Verlingue is expected to move very quickly into overdrive. It should be noted that the broker is also a member of the WBN international network, established in more than 100 countries.
The broker is also promoting Christian Belval as Director of the regions in addition to the Specialties Department for which he retains responsibility. Sébastien Lenne, who recently joined the company, will take over from Christian Belval as Director of Northern France. Lastly, Grégory Roy, who was in charge of IARDT (French property, casualty and transport insurance) Development and Commercial Coordination at Siaci Saint Honoré, is joining the group as director of key accounts and partnerships.
