Recruitment underway in the provinces

Are you looking for opportunities away from Paris? ‘Parcours France’ recently held a Business Forum. Read all about Verlingue and the Forum in the 9 October edition of Le Parisien / Aujourd’hui en France.

For those who are still searching or who are prepared to be convinced, there are dozens of posts to be filled all over France. Here are some of the recruiters.

Even if a brand name is well known, some of their job opportunities are maybe less so. Based in Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, close to Cholet, in Maine-et-Loire (49), the Ikks ready-to-wear fashion brand is currently recruiting. Almost 150 jobs are on offer in the whole of France and for all types of profile. “We offer around 20 store manager positions, about a hundred in sales and around 20 at head office in other functions“, says Segolene Charles, head of recruitment and training at this ready-to-wear company. “The brand has become an autonomous entity after leaving the Zannier group three years ago. We have initiated a landmark transformation phase to build into a self-contained group with prestige brands and fine projects for the future“.

Wide-ranging prospects
In another area, Arnaud de Laguierce, responsible for recruitment at Verlingue, a broker specialising in corporate protections, is not short of ambitious projects. “Our goal is to become the number one insurance broker in the provinces,” he says. In order to support such growth, he is looking for a hundred or so people across all France, for their 17 offices including the head office in Quimper (Finistère, Brittany). Positions to be filled include sales and marketing, digital technology and back-office.
Another employer in search of candidates is the Roullier Group, who advertise more than a hundred posts to be filled everywhere in France, mostly in Brittany but also in Alsace, the Limousin or the Midi-Pyrénées region. Based in Saint-Malo, this specialist in plant nutrition and animal well-being is looking, especially, for financial controllers, R&D engineers, network system administrators, accountants and legal staff.

Take change on board
The career openings are doubtless very interesting, but it is up to the potential candidates to comprehend all the ramifications of change. Segolene Charles states clearly, “I too left Paris, so I prefer that people interested understand the full extent of the job but also where they will be living. Even though we are only 50 kms (30 miles) from Nantes, if you work at our head office you must imagine yourself in a rural setting and envisage travelling sometimes by car, for example.”

Induction programmes
With this in mind, Ikks and Verlingue both offer training and induction programmes. Arnaud de Laguierce adds, “At the job interview we plunge the candidate into his/her future job environment. Then, when they join us, a training and support programme commences lasting several months“. To move forward there is no looking back…
